Join the Honors College Community
Once you’re admitted to ACU, you must submit the Honors College Application to be considered. Your application will be evaluated by your submitted admission materials with strong weight given to your personal statement and two references. You have what it takes.
Honors College students are always reaching for intellectual stimulation and spiritual connection, striving for the richest experience possible in college. You and your peers, led by some of ACU’s finest academic minds, will explore favorite research topics in Honors-designated classes, debate ideas and theories in colloquia, serve abroad, and as iron sharpens iron, push each other toward a deeper, more meaningful relationship with God and your future. Are you still wondering how?
Become Your Best
“I have had an exceptional experience with the Honors College. It has given me a unique community of ambitious and driven peers. The staff is kind, generous and sincerely wants to guide us towards the most success possible.”
Madeleine Ruth Norman, Honors College Student
Requirements for the Honors College:
All Honors students must complete 18 hours (6 classes) of lower-level Honors classes. Most lower-level Honors classes fit into general education requirements. If the Honors classes offered do not fit into your schedule, we offer alternative options allowing students request a regular class be applied as an Honors credit.
All Honors students take at least two colloquia: one-hour Honors classes on special topics taught by some of the most sought after professors on campus in their specific areas of interest.
Depending on which Honors distinction you pursue, you must complete either three (for Honors Graduate) or five (for Honors Scholar) upper-level units. To graduate as an Honors Scholar, an Honors Project Thesis must be completed in addition to the five upper-level units.
Examples of Upper-Division Units:
- Attending a conference
- Receiving an Honors Travel Grant
- Leading a spring break campaign
- Completing an internship
- Participating in ACU’s Undergraduate Research Festival
- Publication of your work
- Serving as an officer in a student organization
- Shadowing a professional
- Completing an Honors Contract in 300-400 level course
- Presenting research
